We went to the Residenz after we left Hotel Stein. We went through all the Baroque style rooms that were in fashion back then. It was really interesting but after awhile, we just got sick of these stuff in Europe. I hate to say that. Now I know why the europeans like chinese style stuff but after awhile sick of it when they live in it.

And we left for Vienna after lunch.

First class babes and dudes. We took first class cabin trains. Yes, we were nuts. But hey, we just need to top up 7 euros for good seats!

Please add "non-smoking" cabin for that perfect ride.
With some music, good view and the usual banter, you will get a better ride... no motion sickness or whatsoever.

Bye bye Salzburg and hello Vienna.

Wien. See you in the next few posts!

The last day in Salzburg, we treated ourselves to a 8 euros breakfast at the tallest hotel. 8th storey restaurant. Haha!

We were also happy drinking hot tea in the darn cold weather. It was sunny and Cor and Irene got the warm sun.

We're loving it... 8 euros breakfast must definitely come with a good spread of food right?

Worth it?

After Mirabell, we decide to go train station to purchase our ticket to Vienna... When we reached the station, it poured. It was a sad sight. But that's because we couldn't go to our dinner place which requires some walking in the rain.
But we just waited for the rain to subside and head off to Andreas Hofer, another recommended dining place.

The food was FANTASTIC and reasonable. Then JR and I decided to bring them to Augustiner Brewery Beer hall. It was just many halls within that place and a lot of people drinking together.

And the next day....

I am in rush mode to cover all my pre school travel.
Shucks!
After decending the mountain, we went to Hellbrunn next... A palace for the archbishops who found amusement in trick fountains. Meaning they shoot out water for fun without you realising it. Crap!

Mirabell Mozart Choc for lunch. Yes, I got wet! And Sound of Music was filmed there.
Then we left and had some pastry for lunch. The pastry shop had lots of bees. Eeks.
Mozart Museum next!

Scary? Hee, Irene stole this shot.

We went to Mirabell garden next. Famous cause of Sound of Music I think. We acted cute and took lots of nice photos. First pic is special because you can see all the highlights of Salzburg in one photo. Holhensalzburg is right at the back, then the residenz in the centre and the garden!

On my 3rd day of Salzburg, we went to scale Unterberg. Okie, I lied. We took cable car up... but we did scale a bit to reach some high points.

Pretty isn't it?
We even had a picnic up on the mountain top!

And that's me with the vast horizon of the alps.

Our first Austrian food. It was recommended by the hostel peeps who are students working during their summer period. It was quite reasonable price for the food, we paid 10 euros each for food and drinks.

The restaurant name "St. Paul's Stubin". 2nd day dinner @ Salzburg

Thank steph for the comment! Hee. It is hilarious.

Anyway, back to my story of travel.
After the cruise, we visited the oldest preserved fortress in Austria, Holhensalzburg.
It was nice... At least a good view of Salzburg.

Yummy.

Or something interesting happened today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORINNE! (Maastricht time is 0136am)
We tricked her. We hid in her hostel kitchen (C building doesn't come with a kitchen in the room.) Then Shao wei did a good job by tricking her to go to the kitchen to check out the milk. Best part was, she didn't realise we were inside. And she just walked 3m into the room. Jun Rong couldn't take it anymore and just shouted "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!". Haha. It was really funny to see Corinne jumping into the sky. REALLY JUMPED!

Happy Birthday. 21st Birthday. Too bad we couldn't make it any more grander for you. Only 2 bottles of wine and chips. Hope it will be etched in your mind forever.

Cruise on Salzach. Pretty nice river. It was a cruise powered not by propeller but some mechanism that sucks the water in and pushes it out at the back. Cool. This was the second day of Salzburg for JR and me and first day for the rest.

So Salzburg... First day was really miserable. But thank goodness a guy was with me, if not I will be so worried about the heavy luggages.

We went to see Mozart and had Augustiner Beer!
Boo! Then we went back to hostel in the rain... and slept from 7pm till next morning 8am!

Yippie, I am back from Munich, Germany! =) Give me 5 days and I will finish my Salzburg and Vienna leg, then I will post my Munich, Tongeren (Belgium), nature walk (Maastricht) and many other photos....

Anyway, first day in Salzburg was a terrible day for both JR and myself. Cause we were both stuck with 6 luggages, rain pattering down on us at airport, cold boring day.

We walked outside out hostel at Salzburg, it was a nice view but without 4 others. Sobs. We had a filling meal at nordsee too. Rice. Erm. Nice la.

Then we just continued to explore the small town before the rest joined us.

I find this particular photo very funny. Because Victoria wanna take a photo of us while freezing our ass off on top 1800 plus metres above sea. It is Unterberg, Salzburg, Austria. Nice! Did you see us freezing and the darn Jun Rong trying to be funny?
From L-R: Albert, Irene, Corinne, Me and JR.

Seems like I love Salzburg a lot. Trust me, if you do stop by Austria, be sure to catch Salzburg. Everything looks GREAT to me.

Being in a place where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was borned, you hear music in the air literally. I bought a mechanical music thingy. I love it. It costs 7.50 euros. But but, worth every cent of it. I was so mesmerised by it till I was like, I MUST BUY.

So my Salzburg trip was a good trip to explore the music side in me. Being tone deaf (as claimed by dear sis), having long fingers (good for piano I heard), loving tunes and good old rock, I don't understand why I appreciated that particular piece by Mozart. I will let you guys listen to it when I am back.

That's all, I love you guys for reading. Do drop me a mail.

Cheers to the day! With a glass (mug) of true blue german augustiner beer! Augustiner-braeu at Salzburg. =) Interesting place. I had to collect the mug from the shelf and wash it. The ang moh behind wanted to smile into the camera and he thought it was captured but JR did not take it because he was there... Quite hilarious. Oh and this was my first day in Salzburg, waiting for the gang to reach Salzburg. So the hostel peeps suggested it is a must go, so 2 of us went to search that oh so famous brewery.
Salzburg is my favourite place to be at.
I have visited London, Salzburg and Vienna. Salzburg is so nice. I wish I could walk down the river again. Have dinner in that floating boat. With nice smell of the flowers. Nice short buildings with clobbered streets by the side. With a cool breeze blowing.
Dreams are all dreams indeed. Maastricht isn't that bad after all. Well, Maastricht is like a in between of Vienna and Salzburg. So I think its quite suitable.
Well after so many days abroad alone without family, I am starting to think I can survive well as long as I have some friends with me. I can't imagine going overseas to study alone. I think I will just faint and die of socialising with beer overload.
That's the value you find in friendship. Well, I cannot speak the same for other kind of relationships. I have sort of given some hope. It comes and goes without you knowing.
I will continue to write more when I am more ready. Take care peeps. The published time is SG time. It is 6 hours slower here in Maastricht.
MUACKS PEOPLE!
